Alright, alright, let’s dive into this whole Wuthering Waves Jiyan team thing. It’s been a bit of a grind, but I think I’ve finally landed on something that’s actually working, so figured I’d share the deets.
So, first off, I started with the obvious, right? Jiyan is the main DPS, gotta build around him. I was initially trying to brute force it with just any old team, thinking his damage would carry, but nah, Wuthering Waves doesn’t work like that. Gotta have synergy.
- Phase 1: The Random Bullshit Go! comp. This was basically just throwing in the highest level characters I had. Danjin, Mortefi, whoever. It looked cool, but the damage was all over the place and the rotations were a nightmare.
I quickly realized I needed a solid support to buff Jiyan’s damage and keep him alive. Healing is key, especially in some of the tougher content.
- Phase 2: The “Heal Bot” attempt. I threw in Baizhi because, well, she heals a ton. It helped with survivability, but the damage was still lacking. Turns out, just staying alive isn’t enough to clear content.
Next, I started looking at resonators who could apply debuffs or buffs that would directly benefit Jiyan. That’s when I started digging into the actual mechanics of Wuthering Waves a bit more.
- Phase 3: The Synergy Search. I started experimenting with different resonators who could apply ATK buffs or debuff enemy DEF. This is where things started to get interesting.
After a bunch of testing, I finally settled on a team that felt pretty damn good:
The Team: Jiyan, Verina, Mortefi
Jiyan (Main DPS): Obvious choice. Stack that ATK, crit rate, and crit damage. Get his resonance chain up when you can.
Verina (Support/Healer): She provides healing, buffs, and can even contribute some decent damage with her Resonance Skill and Intro Skill. Super important for keeping Jiyan alive and buffing his attacks.
Mortefi (Sub-DPS/Debuffer): Here’s where things get spicy. Mortefi can apply a DEF debuff on enemies with his Intro Skill and Resonance Skill, which makes Jiyan’s damage skyrocket. Plus, he does respectable damage himself when you switch to him during Jiyan’s downtime.
How It Works:
The rotation is pretty simple:
- Start with Mortefi, use his Intro Skill and Resonance Skill to apply DEF debuff.
- Switch to Verina, use her Intro Skill for ATK buff and Resonance Skill for healing/damage.
- Switch to Jiyan and unleash hell. Use his Resonance Skill to deal massive damage.
- When Jiyan’s done, switch back to Mortefi and Verina to refresh buffs and debuffs.
This team comp really shines because it combines high damage with good survivability and consistent buff/debuff uptime. I’ve been able to clear most of the content in Wuthering Waves with this setup. It’s not perfect, but it’s been the most consistent for me.
