Well, now let me tell ya ’bout this feller named Vince Russo. He was born on January 24, 1961, somewhere in the good ol’ USA, and let me tell ya, he ain’t just a regular Joe. No, no. This fella’s got a real big name in the world of wrestling. Yup, he’s a writer, a booker, and even a pundit in the wrestling world. If you’re familiar with the WWF, or now they call it WWE, well, that’s where Vince spent a lotta his time making waves. He got into the game back in 1992, and it didn’t take long before he was makin’ a big splash, that’s for sure!
Now, Vince didn’t just start at the top. Nope. He started by writin’ for WWF Magazine, just a regular old writer. He sent a letter to Linda McMahon, and next thing you know, he’s got himself a gig. Now, that letter must’ve had somethin’ special in it, ‘cause by 1994, ol’ Vince was an editor, workin’ under the name Vic Venom. Don’t ask me why he chose that name, but hey, it worked for him. He got himself a good spot in 1996 on the creative team, where he had a big hand in shaping the storylines and all that jazz. The folks at WWF musta seen somethin’ in him, ‘cause they sure kept him around for a while!
But, hold your horses, things didn’t always stay sunny for ol’ Vince. You see, back in 1999, things started to change. He and his buddy Ed Ferrara got hired over at WCW. Now, this WCW, it was a big deal back then, and a lotta folks thought it was gonna be somethin’ big for Vince. But lemme tell ya, not all things go as planned in this world. He stuck around there until October 2000, but by that time, well, he didn’t have the same kind of power he once did. Funny how that works, ain’t it?
Now, you may be wonderin’, “What happened, why’d Vince leave WWF and WCW?” Well, let me tell ya, sometimes family comes first. See, Vince got frustrated with not bein’ able to spend enough time with his kids. Him and Ed Ferrara were workin’ day and night, grindin’ away at that wrestling business, and with all the pressure to write a second show, well, it just wasn’t workin’ out. To make matters worse, Vince said that McMahon asked him to hire a nanny to look after his kids, which didn’t sit right with him. That’s when Vince started thinkin’ it might be time to pack up and leave. Ain’t no job worth missin’ out on your family, right?
So, what did Vince do after all this? Did he just quit and disappear? Nope. The man still stayed active in the wrestling world, even if it wasn’t in the same big-time way he was before. He kept himself busy with his own brand, the Vince Russo Brand. He’s got himself a good ol’ following on Instagram too. A lotta folks still listen to what he’s got to say about wrestling and the industry. Even if some folks don’t always agree with him, well, you can’t deny he’s had quite the impact.
But that’s how it goes in this world. Folks come and go, but they sure leave their mark. Vince Russo, whether you like him or not, did just that in the world of wrestling. His time with WWF and WCW may be over, but he ain’t forgotten. And I reckon that’s somethin’ to be proud of, don’t ya think?
