Okay, let me tell you about my time trying to figure out some things, thinking about Ben Griffin’s golf game. I saw him play, you know, on TV, and thought, ‘He looks pretty solid, steady.’ Made me want to hit the range myself.

Getting Started

So, I grabbed my clubs. Didn’t have a big plan, really. Just wanted to work on consistency. Felt like Griffin, he just puts the ball in play, time after time. Seems simple, but it ain’t.

Got to the range, found a spot. The mats were a bit worn, but whatever. Dumped a bucket of balls. Decided to start with the wedges, just to loosen up. Hit maybe 15-20 shots. Short ones, longer ones. Trying to feel the contact.

The Main Work – Irons

Then I moved to the irons. Pulled out the 7-iron first. This is where I really wanted to focus. I kept thinking about that smooth tempo Griffin seems to have. Not rushed, you know? Just easy power.

My first few shots? Not great. A couple thin, one real chunky one. Felt clunky. I told myself, ‘Okay, slow it down.’ Tried to just focus on making a full turn back and a smooth transition. Didn’t worry too much about where the ball went, just the feeling.

I spent a good chunk of the bucket on that 7-iron. Then switched to the 5-iron. That’s always tougher for me. The tendency is to try and hit it hard, but I kept that ‘Griffin tempo’ thought in my head. Smooth it out.

  • Tried focusing on keeping my head still through impact.
  • Worked on finishing my swing, holding the pose.
  • Hit some good ones, felt compressed.
  • Hit some bad ones too, pushed a few right.

Observations and Feelings

It’s funny, trying to copy someone else’s feel. You can watch them all day, but making your body do it is different. I wasn’t trying to swing exactly like Ben Griffin, more capture that sense of control he seems to have, especially with his irons.

By the end of the bucket, I was getting tired. But I did hit a few stretches of decent shots. The contact felt better. Less effort, but the ball was going okay. Maybe thinking about his rhythm helped calm down my own jerky moves.

Didn’t hit the driver much today. Mostly irons. Felt like that’s where the real scoring happens for guys like Griffin. Finding fairways, hitting greens. That steady approach.

Wrapping Up

So yeah, that was my session. Nothing magical happened. Didn’t suddenly turn into a pro. But it was good practice. Focused on one thing – trying to get smoother, more consistent, inspired a bit by watching Ben Griffin play. Felt like I made a tiny bit of progress. Gotta keep grinding.
